Indication

Benign prostatic hyperplasia

Adult Dose

Oral Benign prostatic hyperplasia Adult: 1 cap once daily.

Contraindication

Hypersensitivity, severe liver impairment. Pregnancy, lactation, child, adolescent.

Mode of Action

Tamsulosin is a selective alpha-1 adrenoceptor blocker. It blocks alpha-1 adrenoceptors, which are abundant in the prostate, prostatic capsule, prostatic urethra, and bladder neck, resulting relaxation of these adrenoceptors in the bladder neck and prostate. Thus, there is an improvement in urine flow rate and reduction in symptoms of benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH). Dutasteride inhibits 5 alpha-reductase, the enzyme responsible for conversion of testosterone to 5 alpha-dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT appears to be the principal androgen responsible for stimulation of prostatic growth.

Precaution

Excreted in semen therefore use of condom is recommended. Women of childbearing potential should avoid handling leaking capsules of dutasteride. Prostate carcinoma should be ruled out before starting the therapy. Blood donation to be avoided during and at least 6 mths after discontinuance of drug.

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. __NAME__ may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How __NAME__ works

__NAME__ is a combination of two medicines: Tamsulosin and Dutasteride, which relieves the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia. Tamsulosin is an alpha-blocker. It works by relaxing the muscle around the bladder exit and prostate gland so as to allow easy passage of urine. Dutasteride is a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor which helps in shrinking the prostate gland by decreasing the level of the hormone which helps the prostate gland grow.

What if you forget to take __NAME__?

If you miss a dose of __NAME__, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
