Indication

Short-term treatment of GERD.

Administration

Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take 15-30 min before meals. Swallow whole, do not chew/crush.

Adult Dose

Adult & adolescent >12 yr 1 cap once daily for 4-8 wk.

Contraindication

Hypersensitivity to substituted benzimidazoles. Prolactinoma, severe hepatic impairment, GI hemorrhage, mechanical obstruction or perforation.

Mode of Action

Rabeprazole is a PPI that suppresses gastric acid secretion by inhibiting H+/K+ ATPase at the secretory surface of the gastric parietal cell. Domperidone is a peripheral dopamine-receptor blocker. It increases oesophageal peristalsis, enhances gastroduodenal coordination and lowers oesophageal sphincter pressure, gastric motility and peristalsis, thus facilitating gastric emptying and decreasing small bowel transit time.

__NAME__ is a combination of two medicines: Domperidone and Rabeprazole. Domperidone is a prokinetic which works on the upper digestive tract to increase the movement of the stomach and intestines, allowing the food to move more easily through the stomach. Rabeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) which works by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach which helps in the relief of acid-related indigestion and heartburn.
